Three Rivers

Three Rivers is made up of a number of areas including Three Rivers Proper and Three Rivers East which form this suburb of Vereeniging, Gauteng. The suburb lies on the eastern most end of the city and is bordered by the Sugarbush river to the south and east and by an eco estate called Summerview Estate to the West.

Three Rivers is home to many people working in the nearby city of Johannesburg due to its easy access to the R59 Freeway linking the two cities. It is also home to some Vereenigings wealthiest families and contributes to the majority of the tax income for the local municipality. Many of these families live in either Fisheagle Street, or Heron Avenue which are situated next to the Sugarbush river.

Most of the streets in the suburb, particularly Three Rivers East, are named after bird species found in South Africa with the exception of Hawthorn street, which is named after a tree. Other places of interest include: Weavers Nest conference centre, Suikerbos (Sugarbush) Laerskool and Riverside High School. The suburb is also situated close to many other schools and shopping centres.

There are two wildlife conservation areas situated around the suburb. The first forms part of the Summerview Eco estate, and the other is situated next to the sugarbush river and is in fact part of Three Rivers Proper. The conservation areas are funded and cared for by the residents of the two neighbourhoods. There is a wide range of game found in these two areas including; Black Wildebeest, Kudu, Waterbuck, Porcupine, Impala and Springbok.

1. River Square Shopping Centre: This popular mall offers a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options, making it a great place for a leisurely day out.

2. Maccauvlei Golf Club: Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round of golf at this well-maintained course, which offers challenging play and scenic views along the Vaal River.

3. Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve: A short drive from Three Rivers, this reserve is perfect for hiking, picnicking, and wildlife spotting, with diverse flora and fauna.

4. Vaal River Waterfront: Enjoy activities like boating, fishing, and riverside picnics, or simply relax and take in the beautiful views of the Vaal River.

5. Stonehaven on Vaal: This riverside venue offers dining, river cruises, and various outdoor activities, making it a favorite spot for both locals and visitors.

How it works for accommodation-seekers:

Terms & Conditions

  1. The property (you) must offer the 15% saving to all verified members
  2. Verification is done automatically at the time of an enquiry. It is at the property’s discretion whether to offer the saving for a telephonic enquiry. (As you have no means to verify the membership number, it is advisable to get them to do a formal enquiry so they can be verified).
  3. If the property is currently running a "Special" greater than 15% then the "Special" price will apply. (No further savings needs to be offered). EXCEPT in the case where the "Special" is lower than 15%. In that case the 15% will apply.
    Example: A property offering a 10% discount, must offer an additional 5% discount to valid members - so they get a total 15% saving.
  4. The property must offer valid members the saving all year round. (Properties that pick and chose in which seasons to participate run the risk of being removed from the programme completely. Allowing selective participation defeats the integrity of this initiative).
  5. The property must not inflate the price before the 15% is applied. Prices displayed should be the rack rate. (The official or advertised price of a room).
  6. The property must honour any bookings made while the property was participating as a $elect Stays property.
  7. The property must honour the agreement and the spirit in which the initiative is designed to benefit local tourism.
